We use Minecraft Education as a cross-curricular tool for engagement and learning. We have a range of sessions to choose from:

- The Dragon Slayer Writing Workshop. Students explore a Minecraft world and meet characters along the way. They have to find clues and complete writing tasks to get to the dragon, where they'll eventually collaborate to bring the Dragon down. Students will be given note-taking, poetry, instructions, persuasive writing and narrative writing challenges.

- Minecraft Maths Workshop. Students are given a space and a chest of materials. Their task is to make a building to our brief which is low cost to build and profitable to sell. They can buy additional materials but must keep on top of their 'accounts'. This activity encourages students to use and apply the four operations.

- Virtual Minecraft Tours. This links particularly well to History and RE topics. Students are given a brief to build an accurate structure that can be used on a virtual tour (i.e. a Sikh Temple or a Roman Villa, for example). Students apply their research and learning and display their knowledge through sign posts and posters around their worlds.

- Science Constructions. In this workshop students create virtual tours that demonstrate scientific knowledge. For example, a year 4 class we recently worked with constructed 3D human bodies. Users became the food and could then enter the mouth and take a tour through the digestive system, learning about each process as they go, eventually landing in the toilet.

- Adventure Playgrounds. This workshop involves students working in teams to create their very own Theme Park. They must come up with marketing materials (adverts) and a pricing strategy. At the end of the day they present their work to the rest of the class and a winning theme park is judged. Great for collaboration and encouraging entrepreneurship.

If you have other ideas that you would like us to apply to your own students' learning, please don't hesitate to ask.
