Arty Pots clay workshops allow children to learn hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab rolling. The clays used are all suitable for firing in our kiln or we can supply high quality air drying clay. Glazing sessions are included for a really professional looking finished result.
We can work from any curricular theme or starting point to create a clay workshop or tile mural that is perfect for your schools needs. With over 20 years experience in schools and community groups Maria will make clay work fun and easy for you, creative and exciting for your pupils.

Tile Murals;
A tile mural creates excitement and camaraderie in a colourful way that is timeless and durable, either indoors or out to enhance your school environment for years to come.

We can provide a series of ‘bisque’ tiles marked out in your chosen design with the children working together to paint in the finished results. This option allows up to 400 children to take part in one day of activity, minimising disruption to your busy schedule.

Or with HAND BUILDING a series of tiles each participant creates and hand builds a clay tile. This would typically take a little longer to complete, but is a more creative and flexible approach.

The finished clay tiles are then mounted on a plywood background which has been cut and painted to enhance the theme or space you allocate to it. We have created clay tile murals for schools from 45 to 750 students.

SCULPTING WORKSHOPS teach the handbuilding skills of pinching, coiling and slab rolling. We can work from just about any starting point or topic to support your curriculum and provide a stimulating and engaging clay project for your children.

Fantastic results! Maria showed the children how to make their clay creations using simple clear steps. All children succeeded and were proud of their work. Maria makes clay work so easy and so enjoyable. Her projects fit into our curriculum so well.”
Maria has a lovely manner with the children, encouraging and supporting them to produce work of a high standard. This mutual respect has led children to attempting more each year and their self esteem growing as a result.”
