Kiddy Cook's programme of cooking activity workshops, underpinned by the National Curriculum's core subject of cooking and nutrition, is an evidence-based, education intervention aimed at improving health related knowledge and behaviours in children.

We use cooking as an exciting way to teach subjects across the curriculum - from history to maths, science to enterprise, technology to geography. All materials are age and key stage appropriate and suitable for use in early years, KS1 & KS2. Kiddy Cook bring everything to include all utensils, aprons and ingredients. Recipes are prepared in the classroom and then taken home to cook, so NO OVEN FACILITIES REQUIRED! And we’ll give each student a wipe down recipe card each week so they’ll know exactly what to do!

Food Foundation Programme (KS2): The curriculum programme consists of 10 core lessons of 90 minute duration and presented once a week over 10 weeks. Sessions include whole class and individual activities and practical hands-on recipes for each child to prepare. The programme materials include detailed lesson plans, recipes and resources for the following topics: Hands on Hygiene, Using Equipment, Cooking Techniques, Fab 5 Food Groups, Sugar Shocker, Tantalising Taste Buds, The Grain Chain, Eat The Seasons, Sustainable Foods and become a Food Detective.

In addition we provide an Evaluation Toolkit to include questionnaires and measures that can be taken to capture the impact of the programme in school and to demonstrate behaviour change.

CookieTots (Early Years & KS1): CookieTots is a cooking specific child development programme based around preparing and enjoying food. The curriculum programme consists of 12 core lessons of 45 minute duration and presented weekly. Sessions include music, games and activities based around food and cooking, together with practical hands-on recipes for each child to prepare. The programme materials include detailed lesson plans, recipes and resources covering a range of topics.

"Kiddy Cook's Food Foundation Programmes have been a positive addition to our curriculum with the help and support provided. The programme has inspired both staff and pupils to expand the lessons into a project to increase parental involvement and the use of ICT skills" Melanie Medhi, Head Teacher at Seaton School, Aberdeen.

Kitchen Science Club (KS2): Kiddy Cook’s Kitchen Science Club is an afterschool cooking activity programme. This six week programme of highly interactive workshops uses food as the basis and encourages children to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes. Each week has a single, one hour session to include the following fabulous themes: Tantalising Taste Buds, Marvellous Microbes, Fizz! Bang! Wallop! Magical Milk, Versatile Vegetables
& Sweet Science.

We can also tailor sessions to suit the needs of your curriculum, or to take advantage of topical issues or events.
